Understanding the Landscape of HR Leadership in the UK
Analysis of HR Career Progression and Educational Trends
In this second edition of this report, and in partnership with Wilson we analysed the profiles of individuals with HR or human resources within their job title at various stages of their career, qualifications, the evolution of their skills, and then exploring how these elements interrelated with career development.
We also invited input from Henley Business School as well as considering case studies of the careers of particular HR professionals to bring further perspectives to Wilson’s data.

“HR needs to focus much earlier in developing system thinking, commercial and change management skills.”
“Many HR roles are some of the more complex in businesses, with judgement and dilemma management skills being increasingly critical.”
“Over the course of my career I have learned many things about myself. One of the most critical is how I learn.”
“There is real value in staying in a role long enough to be able to assess whether what you are doing has been successful.”
